Must haves for mama?

Question

I’m going to be a first time mama, and I’m looking for recommendations on what some women feel were great investments to make them as comfortable as possible after delivery. I was told your receive a peri bottle from the hospital, does it do the trick or should I purchase something different. 
Any other recommendations for must haves?

The peri bottle from the hospital doesn't have the extended/bent nozzle, so buying one like the picture would be helpful. Witch Hazel pads(tucks) are great for soothing sore bum. Have stool softeners just in case(the first poop can be intimidating) Large pads/depends, cant have too much. Good/comfy nursing bra and lots of nipple pads if nursing.

Definitely the peri bottle and I stocked up on dermoplast from the hospital (numbing spray). Lifesaver lol

I bought all the things and then I had a c section so I needed none of it 😂 just buy a pack of maxi pads and depends and wait until after you give birth to see what you need and have someone pick it up for you or Amazon it to your house. the hospital did give me a squeeze bottle and my OB gave me a prescription for colace so I didn’t need that. Stock up on freezer meals. buy yourself super ugly undies that you’re fine with getting ruined. Even the nursing bras I bought ahead of time didn’t work out because my boobs grew  two cups sizes when my milk came in and then I ended up having to exclusively pump so I had to order new bras for that.

Adult duapers/depends. They have non bulky ones too. So much easier than pads.

I know a lot of people are happy with the peri bottle and post partum underwear and what not.
I will just add I had nothing special for post partum and it was fine. I just had big pads and used a showerhead for washing myself down there.

I would say depends, loose sweatpants, peri bottle like the one in the picture, dermiplast for sure, and I would also say nipple cream if you plan on breastfeeding. I am a FTM and I don’t know if I just thought that it was going to be a piece of cake or I had ultra sensitive nipples but I was not prepared for that part of postpartum and highly recommend it.

This will be my 4th pregnancy. I've had 1 hospital birth and two home births. These, are my essentials: Depends love them or hate them, I like not leaking all over my bed or clothes . Regular old Peri bottle. It's not that bad and you get the hang of it. Belly wrap, for supporting your belly and helpful for breastfeeding posture. Not a fan of padsicles. I understand the idea, but I would totally just get witch hazel and spread it on a pad. Like heals like and icy cold pad on my swollen and hot lady bits isn't nice. I've tried it all three postpartums and it's awful. Fyi I had stitches with all three. Stool softener. Lots of pads in different sizes-- I use the depends until I'm 1-2 weeks post then I do pads. If you've got time, do a herbal sitz bath. I didn't get a sizt bath but just filled up my tub and sat in it. I know you can find a host of herbal baths to promote healing. Lanolin or nipple cream of some sort. Ibuprofen or something for lingering pain. I suggest the gel ones since they seem to work quicker. Breast pads, but only get the sample ones and try them out first. I never did like them but I know lots of women live in them. I did use the spray for cooling after my first and it was great! But then I kept thinking about all the chemicals and whatever that's being absorbed by my body in such a vulnerable state and didn't do it with my last 2.

I bought the frida peri bottle and was sooooo happy I did. It’s squeeze bottle so you can control how much water is coming out which I liked cause I needed a lot of water lol. Postpartum diapers were also something I was extremely happy I bought. Giant pads and also the frida postpartum ‘underwear’ so you aren’t bleeding into yours. I also got padcicles and dermoplast.

I would suggest comfortable clothing you will feel good in. I was stuck in my husbands clothes for a couple weeks until the swelling went down enough to wear my own cloths. Overnight pads, ugly undies you don’t mind getting rid of after, comfortable loose fitting bras (I hated going braless because big leaking boobs are annoying lol, a belly wrap, my stomach felt so weird after birth the belly band thing was a life saver for the first week or so, and lots of stool softeners, Ibuprofen, and Tylenol. The peri bottle from the hospital was fine, and my hospital also gave me tucks pads and dermaplast spray.
