My 18 month old has started having tantrums . Like if she doesn’t get her way she’ll start slamming her hands against something or herself or biting the nearest thing she can find either the couch or me .

What is the best way to deal w this before it gets worse . For now I try to distract her with something else and it works for the most part . But not sure if I’m doing the right thing . The biting is what really bothers me because sometimes she’ll do it for attention . Like if I’m busy doing something she’ll start biting something she knows she’s not supposed to or putting something like a bottle cap in her mouth while looking at me to get a reaction out of me . I’m trying to not give her so much bad attention and instead giving her more positive attention so that I don’t reinforce negative behavior but it’s tough bc I also want her to be safe .

I think this is all normal development but wanted other insights if their kid is doing the same and ways to deal with it . Without just screaming No all the time lol

I have a second baby coming in two months so I definately want to nip it in the butt before baby comes and things get out of control
