IVF success

Sarah

My husband and I are most likely going to do IVF. We have been TTC for 1.5 years. The doctor said our odds with IUI were not good so we think we will go straight to IVF. I was just wondering what percentage you guys were given for likelihood of success with IVF (or IUI) and then if it was actually successful? Thank you!!

Iui never worked for us. Ivf worked for us first time. So worth it to me

After we found out we had 3 high quality (untested) embryos frozen we were given a 70% chance at one live birth, a 60% chance at two, and a 50% chance at three. So far we have had two successful transfers that have resulted in our 2 children. We still have one embryo frozen.

My husband and I were diagnosed unexplained infertility, we tried a few rounds of Clomid and TI, had my left tube removed due to partial blockage, then tried 4/5 IUI’s. All failed and we moved on to IVF. We found out during our first round of IVF that we had a fertilization issue despite my husbands SA always normal. We never really got an explanation but ICSI is what we needed. I believe age and egg reserve are big factors in success. I had success my first transfer! But It can also take a couple tries, so I would go in open minded, positive, hopeful, and with realistic expectations. My first transfer was successful, second transfer ended in 6w mc, and third transfer was also successful, Almost 33 weeks with our second and 8 more embryos frozen. We did not do genetic testing on any of our embryos. Best of luck to you!💛

I would consider our IVF round successful. We had three failed IUI with unexplained fertility. Ended up with 10 genetically normal embryos and our first FET worked. Worth every penny.

My husband and I are looking into IVF as well. We’ve been ttc for 3 years and I had an ectopic in December. Are you going to go through the NHS or private? 🤎

IvF success depends on many factors. One of the most important is maternal age. At 36+ the success rate is about 30% procent. Some people are lucky to have success on the first try, but the average is 3+ transfers.

If you measure success by having any embryos cryopreserved, than mine was successful so far. If you measure IVF by birthrate, then I can’t tell you it was a success because I haven’t had a transfer yet. In any case, I was given ZERO chance for any eggs to be retrieved, let alone having any embryos created with my own eggs. But I didn’t believe my OBGYN, and after 2canceled cycles, 1that had no eggs retrieved, I had an IVF cycle that resulted in one egg retrieved, and fertilized via ICSI. This healthy embryo waiting for transfer.

My doctor told me 30-40% success rate with my first transfer. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I have chronic kidney disease and PCOS X
