Toddler not responding to her name
My 18 month old daughter doesn’t respond to her name and doesn’t speak much. Like, I can’t even give a number of words she says because once she says them once she’ll never repeat them again. She tries to sing along to songs and sometimes she can make out a few words, but nothing with meaning. Doesn’t say mama or dada to us. She does understand everything. She knows where certain parts of her body are. She listens and does as we say. I’m setting up an appointment to see her pediatrician and hopefully go into early intervention, but I was just wondering if all of this tends to lead more to her being on the spectrum? She makes good eye contact and is very affectionate. Have any moms experience this with their toddler? If so, how did it go? I try so hard to get her to speak, but it’s just not working. Unfortunately, I work full time and my mother watches her, but my mom has the television on for her ALL day. I’ve asked her not to, but she won’t listen to me. I feel as this may contribute to the delay? I honestly don’t know. I feel so lost and helpless.
