So, most mattresses are made in the same facilities, with generally the same material, and then they get a brand tag slapped on them. The average markup on a mattress is 3-3.5 times the cost. They like to use fancy wording, “active charcoal, cooling gel,” etc, which is also pretty standard. I have purchased a cool gel brand off of Amazon, and it’s really nice. It was $300-$500, depending on size and thickness. Compare the memory foam portion, to the base portion. Know what you’re paying for. I love my mattress and I didn’t over pay for it.

We got a memory foam mattress from Costco about 8 years ago and still love it. I don't know what brand it is but they shipped it for free and it was around $400.
