Any work-from-home with kids ladies here?

I don't know about you in your state, but in mine (upstate NY) the cost of childcare for one child full-time, even with bringing your own food, is ridiculous. Roughly $250 a week, more or less. Factor in a new monthly insurance rate after baby is born, and I'm looking at 75% of my paycheck gone (I usually bring home $435 a week after taxes). My boyfriend brings home a little less but is waiting on test results for the police academy. With that said, how do you survive with child care costs? Most women (from what I've learned) end up leaving their jobs, at least for a couple years, because they feel like all they work for is enough to pay child care with little to nothing left over. This is the only aspect about TTC/having a baby that scares me and I'd just like to see what other people's experiences are. If you work from home with your kids there or being cared for, what is your job type? Does it work for you? Trying to research some future options that I may have to look at setting myself up with. TIA! :)
