How to *decrease* milk production safely if still BF-ing?
My “baby” is almost two, and still nursing! Lol … I’m so happy to have made it this far, but I think I’m about done breastfeeding. She nurses off & on throughout the day, but mostly at nap time/nighttime/bed time. She eats regular food as well as takes regular milk throughout the day, I think nursing is more for comfort than anything else now.
I’ve tried offering more snacks, distractions, not rushing to her right away when she shows signs of wanting to nurse, nursing for shorter amounts of time, more milk during the day. But nothing has quite stuck, and I CANT go cold turkey. That would hurt me (and her) emotionally and probably physically for me (engorgement & I’m prone to clogged ducts)
I’m thinking I’d like to just slowly decrease my supply so she’ll turn more to milk/ other foods, and the transition would be gentle, but I’m not sure how to do that safely as she’s still nursing.
Are there any supplements/teas/etc that are ok to use if she’s still nursing?
Thanks !
