Bottles at night
At 12.5 months was your baby still waking up for a bottle in the middle of the night? I’ve read a lot of women say they threw out their bottles to wean their babies but I wonder if their babies would wake up to feed? If they did would you give them a sippy cup to drink from? Were your babies able to go 12 hours without eating and sleep through the night by this age? I can’t even go that long without eating and wake up around 1am to eat a bowl of cereal 😂
My son was EBF until 11 months bc i stopped producing enough to sustain him so then we gave him formula and breastmilk. He fought taking a bottle for awhile but eventually gave in and will only take them at night. He’s on almond milk and still weaning off formula, since whole milk just didn’t work well for his belly. We bedshared up until a few weeks ago so he was used to having an all night buffet and would nurse multiple times a night. I’m slowly working on this habit of his. Now that he’s in his own bed, I give him a bottle before bed so he’s sustained for a few hours but he still wakes up every 2-4 hours to nurse. My son has always been a terrible sleeper and would only sleep if on me or right next to me and his naps were always 30 min with night stretches being only 1-1.5hours so him sleeping 2-4 hour stretches is amazing. I’d like to get him off the bottle before March since I’m due to have baby #2 but not sure how to go about giving him his night bottle whether it be in a sippy cup or straw cup. During the day he refuses to drink his milk from a bottle, sippy cup, open cup etc. He’s not fond of the bottle but drinks it at night before we start his bedtime routine. I know for sure he needs that night feeding or else he WILL NOT sleep.
