I can’t concentrate when someone sends me a long text message and I have no idea what they’re talking about
So I have two friends that tend to send very long, detailed texts. It’s more than just conversing or chatting, they are very thorough texters and do not miss a single detail about what they’re trying to tell me. One of them works for the electric company and for some reason wants to send me very long, detailed accounts of his interactions with clients. I absolutely cannot follow along. I have no idea why but I cannot concentrate on it. I just skim through and reply with “wow that’s crazy” or something. I just have no idea what he’s talking about and I cannot bring myself to sit there and think about what he’s saying. The other friend does the same thing about her family drama. It’ll be pages and pages of texts about her drama and I cannot concentrate enough to really know what’s going on. I feel awful about it but it’s like my brain will not process it. If it’s longer than a few sentences I have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about and can’t concentrate long enough to read their novel texts.
I’m NOT like this about other things. I can read books, articles, etc. without issue. I can concentrate on tasks and the television. But I have to be interested in whatever is in front of me.
Is anyone else like this? Do I have ADHD or something?
