Anyone have experience with a “nursemaid’s injury”?
When I arrived to pick up my 4yo at the babysitter today, he was sitting in a chair cradling his arm and looking very sad. The sitter said his arm had gotten twisted while roughhousing about 30 minutes earlier. He is kind of a rough kid, but usually bounces back really quickly from getting hurt. I took him to urgent care and they checked him out and took x-rays and confirmed nothing broken or dislocated. Diagnosis was that it was probably a nursemaid’s injury, likely that his elbow did get out of joint, but popped back in. They said just give him Motrin and an ice pack, and should be fine in a few days to a week.
He’s still not using the arm, says it feels better but still hurts. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this sort of thing and any thoughts or advice.
I just feel so helpless. Hate seeing my little guy in pain. 😢
p.s. please no comments about the babysitter. I’m dealing with that aspect of it, but really just want to focus on my son.
