Should I even bother calling back?

A job called me about my application on Jan. 14 and Jan 18 and asked me to call them back to schedule an interview. I got Covid and completely forgot to call them and just remembered today. Should I even bother calling them now that it was practically 2 weeks late? What can my excuse be?😭

Tell them youve bwen sick with covid and isolating and ask if the opportunity is still available. It might be it might not you never know until you ask.

I applied for a job after the applications were closed, I took the chance. And I got the job. They're also human and they understand people get sick and such. The worst that can happen is that the position has been filled.
