UK, when to ring doctors?

I found out I was pregnant last Saturday currently 5 weeks 3 days. This is my second pregnancy and the first one I rang the doctors and got the ball rolling straight away. This time I rang up, I live in a different county now and they very rudely said “call back when your 7-8 weeks, goodbye” is this normal now?

I was made to self refer through an online form by my GP and my first appointment for bloods was scheduled around 7-8 weeks .They didnt really want anything to do with me beforehand .

Mine was similar. Seen within the week last time this time I called at 5 weeks and they said I have to fill a form out and the midwife won’t see me until I’m 8 weeks which is 10th Feb

I have to say the information online of what to do is very unclear and outdated. Especially if it's your first time and you can't ask anyone for advice if your keeping it to yourselves. 
The first number I was given by GP receptionist was the city centre hospital (2 other hospitals closer to me than city centre) and their first question was 'are you wanting to give birth here, oh well we can't help you if your not wanting to come here' I hadn't even got that far in my head yet! Honestly took me about a week of chasing numbers and being on hold to get hold of the right department to book in.

Oh no, no need for people to be rude..hate that. I live in N Ireland and I'm 6 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I phoned the doctor this week and they told me to self refer...I fill in a form online and email it to my closest hospital. They ask that I don't send it until I am 8 weeks... similar time frame to what you are saying.

I had a bit of a faff. Called my Dr's at 5 weeks and they just told me to call maternity at the hospital I wanted to go to. Eventually got through though and my booking in app is on Sunday and I'll be 8 weeks.

At our practice your first app is now over the phone at 10 weeks - called your booking appointment. Then they’ll process the request for your scan for between 12-15 weeks x
