Extra cells?

I'm 14.3 weeks now but I've been thinking about my last appt at 12 weeks and they told me something I haven't been able to get off my mind. 
They said my Pap smear they did at 10 weeks was a little abnormal and they said something that it was called (I think they did) but basically I had extra cells they found. Told me not to worry about it as far as cancer goes and that it's completely normal for someone my age (I'm 22) and they will recheck in a year after baby is born and things settle down for me. Has anyone else been told this??

A little background info..I lost my mom to cancer when I was 17. She had 4 types of cancer one after another for 5 years leading up to her death and the first cancer her had was cervical and then her uterine wall so I'm just so nervous for that fact even tho they said it's completely normal

Get a second opinion, that would be my go to if my mom had cancer, but don't stress to much, hope everything turns out well prayers for you and your little one

First call and ask them to explain it to you again so you understand completely and secondly do they know of your family history? You can get a second opinion but if it was something to be concerned with they wouldn't lie to you.  Hope all is well dear and congrats on your baby

I had same thing with my second pregnancy and after birth check everything was normal

It's probably benign HPV. It's a popular virus (which means it can go away wit time). They'll do cryosurgery or a leep procedure later on to remove the cells. The reason they won't do it now is because it leaves your cervix open and that's no good while pregnant. If your doctor isn't worried I wouldn't be either. I had the surgery right before I got pregnant over 6 years ago and with an open cervix I still carried till 41 weeks so try to relax.

My pap was abnormal last pregnancy. My ob said it was due to the pregnancy most likely. Afterwards it was normal again :)

This is why dr's where I live don't do pap smears during pregnancy. It's quite common to have abnormal cell grown during pregnancy, and not just on your cervix.
With that said I would make an appointment just to clarify with your dr what is actually going on for you. I would talk about your mum's history of cancer too and say that you're worried.
