Can someone explain what folicals on ovaries mean?

Ovarian follicles are small sacs filled with fluid that are found inside a woman's ovaries. Each has the potential to release an egg for fertilisation.

If you have PCOS you have too many follicles. Your body makes more than the “usual” person and so the eggs don’t mature at the correct rate so either you don’t ovulate because the egg doesn’t pop out of the follicle because it’s too immature or you so ovulate but the egg quality isn’t great because it’s too immature.
In the usual person there’s a number of follicles and each month a mature egg pops out of one when they ovulate.
