once you get your first peak opk (test line is darker than control line) you have anywhere from 12 to 36 hours before ovulation occurs. this is what you should rely on instead of the test results you get after. but to answer your question, yes the test line will start to fade. i hit peak on the 26th and tested once yesterday and again today and just now got a negative result.

Opks can't confirm ovulation. A negative after a positive just means the surge is over.
