Owlet smart sock

Question

Hi mamas!
Does anyone have any input or strong feelings about the owlet sock? We’re on the fence about it but scared of false alarms, burns and inconsistencies. We’d love to hear what you have to say :)

We’ve had the gen 3 for two months now and I swear it’s why I haven’t felt anxiety about my baby sleeping. We’ve had 2 false alarms where the sock wasn’t put on tight enough. No burns. The only hint I noticed was the band was digging in to my baby’s foot which I realized was because my baby is a chunker and needed to move up to the next sock size. I like that is also tracks the type of sleep he has so I can tell when he’s slept well or not.

I haven’t used the owlet since the recall or whatever it was so I’m not sure what the functionality is. The only thing that was wrong tho is that they have to register it as a medical device. We loved the smart sock. I have never ever ever heard about burns. We never had any false alarms and it just gave us so much peace of mind.

I was given an owlet and tried using it but I found it burned my baby’s foot where the laser thing was. So I tried switching foots and it burned her other foot too. Then I tried putting a regular sock then the owlet and it couldn’t read her or kept going off. I really wanted it to work for my peace in mind but it just didn’t. Not sure if I wanna try again with my next baby. Don’t wanna spend $300 and it ends up burning baby #2 feet as well

We had the Smart Sock 2 with my son and now the 3 with my daughter. The false alarms with the 2 never bothered us. We just adjusted it. 
It saved my son when he was 4 months and his fever spiked, in the middle of the night, and he was sleeping soundly. The high fever caused his heart rate to go up so high it caused the alarm on the sock to go off. I was a new mom and he did not have a fever when I laid him down and I have no idea how high his fever could have gotten in his sleep. We were so grateful for the sock that night! My husband and I always said we hope we never get our money’s worth, but if anything happens it’s worth more than what we paid. It was worth it that night.
The 3 has been easier and we never get false alarms with it. It is an improvement, but we have been so grateful for both. As other people mention it allows us to sleep soundly knowing the owlet will alarm us if something is wrong. We now monitor our daughter’s heart rate at nights when she’s a little fussy or not feeling well and if it goes outside of her typical range (nothing crazy) we go in and check her temperature to be safe.

The only burn I’ve seen reported was from someone who had the owlet on, a sock and a shoe. If you use it appropriately, it won’t burn your child. 
We have a gen 2 and absolutely loved it with our son and are using it again with our daughter. Never had a false alarm. Sometimes it would notify you if the sock isn’t placed correctly. But we never had issues. 
Gave me lots of peace of mind as someone who suffered from PPA with my son.

I loved my owlet. I think I actually had the 1 but why not get the newest addition. It really eased my ftm mind. My son would sleep so still I had a couple panic attacks because I couldn’t tell if he was breathing. He also slept in his own crib since day 1. Next to my bed until 6 mos then in his own room. It really helped me. Then when he was 1 he got bronchitis and we used it to monitor his breathing he had to go back the ER twice before they admitted him. I’m for it personally.

I love ours. It’s on our second baby. My husband even asked about it in the beginning. Her foot wasn’t big enough when we came home, so we couldn’t use it right away. I’ve never gotten a false alarm or any burns.

I love ours. But Ours is on loan from a friend. It helps me sleep easily (obviously my daughter is already in a safe sleep space already) but I have bad anxiety so it helped when she was a newborn.  
We’ve never had a burn and only one false alarms for the social coming off in 9 months. I can’t speak to the new sock though. I have a gen 2.
