What percent is your mortgage out of your monthly income?

Just trying to see something. I know they say 28% should be it. But would 35% or even half be fine/doable?

I’d probably wait until you’re in a better place.  It kinda might not even be up to you—talk to your lender about that.

Ours is about 20 percent. I would not feel comfortable with half unless my monthly income was very high.

Ours is 15%.  It used to be less than that but my husband had a career change and has taken a significant pay cut.  We have other bills that we are working on paying off and I love that our mortgage is such a small portion of our income.

With everything mortgage and vehicle {we don’t have credit card debt} our debt to income ratio is 28% and sometimes it feels tight for us so I couldn’t image going any higher. We also have 4 kids 2 pets so that takes $$$ too!

Ours is ~13%. We bought when the market was low but our income was much lower as well. It's super easy to pay our mortgage and we never have trouble with it. I wouldn't take anything over 25-30%.

It depends on your other expenses. We make 7053 combined a month and rent is 2345 so we use 33% for rent. Honestly that’s too high for us and we struggle to pay the rest of our bills with what’s leftover, but everywhere around us is listed at least $300 higher so moving isn’t an option.

Your mortgage is not supposed to be more than 1/3 of your income that way you can afford everything else.
