Tummy time ?

I’m a ftm and I recently just learned about tummy time? Like I literally did not know babies need that? I would google it but it’s better to hear from you ladies. Do all babies need to tummy times ? If so why ? My son just turned 3 months and was wondering how to start it? I also found this at target. Is it worth it?

All babies need tummy time. But you absolutely don’t need anything specific for it. My babe did tummy time on our bed when we lived in a studio and had no space for extra shit. I’d put him on our bed on his tummy and surround him w toys and show him visual cards or books etc.

Yes all babies need tummy time in some form. It develops muscles. Babies should start right away. So since you are just starting at 3 months, it will take some extra work to get caught up. 
Having said this, does your baby hold their head up? Can they roll onto their side? If so, then your baby isn’t really behind. But either way, get started on lots of tummy time. Just on the floor or on your chest while you are laying down.

a blanket on the floor is fine no need to buy things like this of course you can if you want and they are cute and fun to have but its not really needed im not sure why his peds didnt tell you about tummy time at his 1 week check up

To add to why others have said: be sure to do it safely. Always supervise the baby when they’re on their tummy. At all times.

Yes babies need tummy time. I started it with my son when he was a month old.
It helps strengthen there necks. It has a lot of benefits. Tummy time is best on the floor like toys and hanging toys. Like the picture of the mat you posted is perfect.

Tummy time can literally be just laying baby tummy to tummy on you while you're on the couch. No special equipment needed.

All babies need tummy time to strengthen their muscles. It doesn’t have to be on the floor. It can be on your chest, knees, the couch(with you RIGHT there), etc.

Just put them to play on their tummies for a few mins each day. It strengthens back and neck etc. don’t stress about it and def don’t buy any crap specifically for it. You can put any old toys or mirrors around them and they will be just as entertained :)

Tummy time is very very important! You do NOT need anything special though. 
Laying on your chest and looking up at you is tummy time.
Laying on the floor on their tummy with a toy to look at or a mirror is tummy time. 
Baby wearing worn correctly is tummy time. 
Laying in their crib on their tummy with you on their level is good too!
