Are you pro or anti daycare during a pandemic?

What if all staff aren’t vaccinated? Would you still put your child in daycare during a pandemic? I’m talking younger kids (8-18month olds) who cant be vaccinated right now
Also, in your experience with kids in daycare, how often ate they getting sick (not covid)? Im nervous to put my kid in daycare because of all the germs and sicknesses🙁

Yes, I would still put them in daycare. We need daycare to be able to work and survive. It isn't something we can just be against.

I say no and here’s why. I’ve just watched very good friends of mine spends thousands and thousands of dollars on daycare over the last year for the kid to be quarantined every other week. They are still responsible to pay tuition in full for the kid to be told they were exposed and must quarantine. No thank you. If the stupid quarantine rules weren’t there then yea I would have no problem sending her to daycare but financially no way can I spend that much and have to take time off work to stay home with a kid who’s not even sick.

Anti. Because when my son was going to daycare while we was working full time, he always have been sick. He had strep throats 5 times within 4 months. He then get sick with other things too. I always had to leave work early to pick him up. Daycares doesn’t sanitize or the kids kept going to daycare sick and passes it onto the other kids.

former preschool teacher here - personally i wouldn’t let my kids attend as i’ve seen how poorly they’re treated. favorites are picked , most of the preschools hire teenagers with a CPR certification , no vaccinations are required upon employees (at least where i’ve worked) , they also hire those with zero experience or those with little experience such as baby sitting and give them 3 months to become certified. many children sit in the same diaper all day & only change them when it comes to parent arrival/nap time. they get yelled at and rough handled , none of the toys go through daily sanitization , staff gets sick nearly every week , many children arrive with a serious fever and cough & are sent home within the first hour , i’ve worked in many different facilities and none of them have changed my mind.

Daycare to me is something I desperately tried to avoid. I’m fortunate to be a SAHM for this reason. If I worked, my paycheck would just be going to that. I also don’t like the idea of all the sickness cycles that happen often. Covid doesn’t help either. 
I am able to spend more time watching our baby grow and learn and not miss big milestones. Kids just grow up to fast and I didn’t want to miss a thing. I was able to get his first roll over, sit up, walk and words on camera. I could have missed this with daycare. 
This is just my opinion and situation. I understand why people choose daycare. If it works for them, then good for them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pro because I can’t quit my job.
My kids go to a daycare where staff is vaccinated and a lot of the 5+ kids are vaccinated (including mine). We all had Covid last week. My 2 year old got it from his teacher who was asymptomatic. It was their first time being sick at all since September.

I don’t have a choice. We need to work in order to pay rent. We use an in home daycare though and everyone in her home is vaccinated. My daughter will be 3 months when she starts full time.

I wouldn't say I'm "anti" but I personally wouldn't put my kids in daycare at least until they're preschool age (like 3-5 years old). I completely understand the necessity of it though which is why I'm not "anti" daycare. I was a daycare kid growing up and was ALWAYS sick with something. After working in pediatric clinics and the ER almost all the kids I saw frequently were the ones in daycare all week. The staff being vaccinated/unvaccinated however wouldn't make me choose one daycare over another though (just my personal opinion). My best friend has her kid in daycare and has had her in daycare since 6 months old and my best friend is constantly having to take off work to stay home with the sick kid/take her to the dr which is another reason I personally wouldn't put my own child in daycare.
