How often should I wash my baby’s hair with cradle cap? (8.5 months now)

Hi! My baby had cradle cap when she was maybe 2 months old and got pretty bad at 3 months old. We did the mineral oil and brush treatment once and a lot got off. I was on the fence about using mineral oil again and I thought the little remaining would eventually fall out after enough washing. We wash her hair once a week to 10 days since her hair doesn’t seem dirty or greasy, even though we give her a quick water bath almost every day as a part of the bed time routine. But after 5 months the little remaining cradle cap is still there. Would it not go away by itself and I have to do the mineral oil treatment until it’s totally clear? Or is it that I am not washing her hair often enough? Thank you!

It will go away but it takes time - and by time, I mean my son’s didn’t entirely go until he was 2.

My girl had pretty bad cradle cap. Getting it out would often take chunks of hair with it. We washed about once a week with a conditioning baby shampoo and combed her hair softly. At 15 months it’s gone totally and she has a full head of soft hair. Mostly I’ve head that with time, it goes away. I’ve heard that olive oil can work wonders though.

Thanks!! Glad to hear your experience and your baby has grown out of it. I’ll try olive oil.
