Menstrual cups? Yay or Nay?

Who here prefers menstrual cups over tampons? I hate pads and refuse to use them. But I’ve been thinking about try a menstrual cup. Who has recommendations for me?

I like menstrual cups because in my opinion they’re exactly as gross/a pain in the butt as tampons, but I can leave them in overnight and after I change it the mess is gone, compared to in the trash.

I used tampons for the longest time and decided to try a diva cup like 4 years ago. I’ve never looked back! Haven’t used a tampon since. I bought reusable panty liners just for super heavy days in case I leak, but I rarely ever have problems with leaking. There’s an online quiz to take that should help you decide which brand might work best for you! I bought a different one last year but can’t remember the brand right now. No issues with either!😊

They changed my life haha. Throw it in the morning then take it out before bed. No wet strings. No taking tampons to the bathroom. Environmentally friendly. I have told all my women friends they need to start using them, I love it that much.

I could never get the hang of a cup, but really liked using discs. They are still 12 hours of protection. They are disposable (emptying & cleaning the cup grossed me out lmao) & you can have sex with them in!!

I love my cup but if you have a cervix that sits pretty high, I’d recommend one with a ring you can stick your finger in for removal or one that collapses when you pull. I had a pretty bad scare when mine slid so high up I could not reach it. There was only a little nub to grab and it kept slipping. Possibly the most embarrassing “honey can you come here” I’ve ever had with my husband. 🤦🏻‍♀️ (in 13 years… )

Switched kinds and haven’t gone back!!

I bought one at my pharmacy and it seems to be pretty comfy. It was a little strange to put in the first time and get the placement right. But after that it’s been fine. It doesn’t hurt me like tampons

I tried them for a while but found them just to be a hassle. If you don’t get it inserted just right then it can spill out at random points throughout the day. Plus if you have a heavier flow and need to empty it midday it’s extremely unsanitary to change them in a public bathroom as blood gets everywhere and you need to rinse the cup out and end up getting blood all over your hands. I also had a hard time removing it and my husband had to one time as I sat in the shower. I realize they are better for the environment, but not nearly convenient enough for me. I’ll still with tampons.
