Skin-to-skin immediately?

Question

I’m going to ask my dr at my next appointment, but has anyone done skin to skin immediately after the baby being born via c-section? This is my last baby and I’ve never had that experience.

Yes! I got skin to skin while they sewed me up. Unless you or babe are unstable, they should let you. They gave me some bullshit about hospital policy so I told them evidence shows immediate skin to skin is beneficial and they can send an administrator to tell me about the policy. They didn’t send anyone and I had my babe in my arms as soon as he was out. They suctioned his airways on my chest ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I did! It was within like a minute of baby being born via c-section. They had me get ready and then placed baby right on my chest. I even needed oxygen and they still let me keep holding her.

They didn’t let me because they were worried I couldn’t move my arms (I really couldn’t) and that it would be too cold in the operating room for a naked newborn. My husband got to do skin to skin the second we were in a post-op room and I got to do it about 10 minutes later when I had use of my arms. I specified in my birth plan that either me or my husband would do immediate skin to skin, so they knew what I wanted.

Yes! I got to hold my baby immediately after delivery. They took him and checked vitals and heart rate and once everything was good he was brought to me and laid on my chest! I had my tubes removed as well so he got to be with me during the whole removal and also while I was being sewed up. We had about 20 minutes of skin to skin and then they let my husband take him to the room while I was moved out of the OR. It was a wonderful experience!

Yes! With my 2nd c section (3rd baby) I was able to do skin to skin once he was “cleared” and the docs closed me up. It was great! First time I had gotten to do it as well

We had an unplanned c-section after 52 hours of labor.
We didn't do immediate real skin-to-skin because I was too weak, shivering, don't remember if I had any space to put the baby anyways... but my husband got to hold him real close to me I could see him and touch him, hold my arm around him.
Right after I was sewn closed they covered me with a warmairblowing duvet kind of thing, and we got to do skin to skin and baby got to drink.
