Doctor visit

Annie

Im currently pregnant with my second child. Today I had my second doctor appointment at 14 weeks. I was told my doctor would not do another ultrasound until checking for head down . All they did was check the heart beat . I go to another facility next month to get my anatomy scan and I was told i can see my baby then . I just want to know is this something new, is there other moms that don’t get a chance to see their baby every visit.

I have already made arrangements to look into other doctors . Just because you hear a heart beat doesn’t mean nothing else is happening.

Seems a bit weird they don't offer a anatomy scan.I would definitely look elsewhere to get that. You don't have to scan to tell if baby is head down or not. And that's usually way later.

Funny how all your extremely defensive and angry answers are suddenly gone from every comment in this thread including my own 😂

Girl be gone . U take as a defense . And again nobody u know of . Stop thinking you know everything. Things change over years. So u reading comments and YOU perceiving them as defensive is YOUR PROBLEM, not mines . Save all that . And I wasn’t asking if it right or wrong , i asked so others experience. So your comment is no longer needed. Have a blessed day.

I got 1 at every appointment but I was considered high risk. I had already had multiple miscarriages and my last was a ectopic before my doctor, so my doctor wanted to make sure she was growing properly

Most women get 2 ultrasounds unless something is wrong or you’re high risk. You get your 1st trimester ultrasound and your anatomy scan. I’m pregnant with my 4th & it’s always been this way. They feel if baby is head down, I’ve never gotten an ultrasound for that. I have gotten an extra ultrasound I paid for outside my doctors office for fun to do the 4D pictures & video 😊

My dr gave me one at 8 weeks, to confirm. She wants to do one at 12 weeks and then 20 weeks. Sometimes she goes them closer to birth also to get a weight estimate

My doctor only does 3 ultrasounds. One around 9 weeks, 18, and I wanna say around 35ish. I just pay for private ones if I wanna see more

My doctors office did one my first visit , then they did an early gender ultrasound which I paid $50 for then they did the anatomy scan at 20 weeks .. haven’t had another , my good friend used them and she said that they didn’t do another ultrasound on her after the anatomy scan, so I don’t know if I’ll get another one before baby comes or not to determine heads down or not , but they normally don’t do a lot of ultrasounds unless it’s a high risk pregnancy

I think it massively depends where you are, your care providers resources and your own medical history. But I think a few things are standard like a dating scan and an anatomy scan. So if you're inclined to change providers go with your gut. Where I'm located depending what type of care I decide to have I do have the choice of an ultrasound at every visit. And the bare minimum is a dating scan at 10 weeks, an anatomy scan between 18 to 22 weeks with a potential for more early scans or others in between dating and anatomy depending on medical history. This is a global app. People's experience can be veeeeery different.

Thanks, yea after reading a few comments thats what im starting to believe. I only had one other child and i do understand things change and the area on which you are. So i am going to compare the two billing statements to see if the price is the same according to the break down. My first pregnancy was very different. I didn’t get considered high risk until i was about to have my baby

No such thing as too many ultrasounds. It’s sound. It doesn’t harm the baby. Or almost every sonographers child would have something wrong 🙄

With my first 2 pregnancies, I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks and then my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. That was it. I’m currently pregnant with twins so I get an ultrasound every two weeks right now to check their growth and fluid levels. You generally don’t get an ultrasound every time unless you’re high risk.
