Birth control making me gain weight?

I’ve been on birth control since I was 16 due to very very irregular periods, my birth control brand has been switched 3 times, the first one I done okay with and took for 3 years, the second I had alot of problems with, now this one I’ve been taking about 2 years and have gained a ton of weight! I am at my heaviest I’ve ever been and I eat moderately healthy. Has anyone else experienced this? My doctor told me “people are gonna say you’ll gain weight but that’s a lie”
