One year old nursing very frequently?
My daughter is 13 months and nurses so frequently. She has been nursing every two hours since she was about 3 months old. She use to sleep well without needing to nurse for 6-8 hours, but that changed when she started crawling. Ever since she has woken to eat every three hours. She doesn’t wake angry, just calls to me. If I don’t respond she starts to cry and then starts screaming. She becomes inconsolable until I feed her. She will eat for five minutes, pull off, I set her back in her crib (she is awake), and she lays down/ goes back to sleep. I’ve spoken with her doc because I’m at my wits end. He says she is truly hungry because she know how to self soothe and isn’t falling asleep while eating. It’s not far fetched because my husband has a genetically overactive metabolism. Doc suggested pediasure, she doesn’t like it. I give her whole milk before bed which she loves, but doesn’t make a difference. She went two weeks of sleeping good again and then back to every three hours. I feed her all throughout the day both solids, nursing, milk, juice, and water and she is still hungry at night. I’m lucky because she is only awake for about 5-10 minutes at most when she wakes, but I don’t know how the heck I’m going to wean her if she is really this hungry all the time!!! Any advice out there?
