Altercation: To mask or not? Who cares?!

Question

This morning my son and I went to the grocery store (he is almost 14months) we were at the produce isle and I saw this man walking towards us and he yells “you people are fucking ridiculous” and he looks at me and yells “do you think wearing that mask is going to protect you” and I responded “look man, I’m just minding my own business” then as he walks away from me he says “fucking idiot”
Mind you I’m with my son and very pregnant & I felt terrible that my son was seeing and hearing this. My eyes began to water because I was so mad and felt humiliated. 
My thing is why does it matter if I choose to mask or not? Why can’t we mind our own business. This goes both ways.

He was absolutely wrong. 100%. It is never okay to accost someone in public because you don’t align with their beliefs. It’s doubly wrong to behave that way toward a pregnant woman and her young child. That guy is a crap bag. Hopefully you can make it a teachable moment for your child, and hopefully that man went on to have the day he deserved.

No it doesn’t matter, he is ignorant. I have a 16 month old and am 27 weeks pregnant. I don’t wear a mask and it’s my choice, if you do I literally don’t even think twice,  I’ll probably smile and go about my day

This happened to me too. Someone snapped on me for having my 3 year old wear a mask in the store. I've had someone call me stupid for wearing my own mask...total stranger who I wasn't even interacting with. These people are truly unhinged. It doesn't effect them in any way and yet here they are crying about it. So sensitive.

It's probably not even about the mask. People like that cling to external frustrations and take their frustrations out on others so they don't have to look inward and face their own problems. 
Not giving him a pass, I just find it helpful to reframe things like that so the anger of unhappy people doesn't become your own anger. He sucks, there's no reason to let a sucky person ruin your day.

Sorry you had to go through that. Whenever You experience such crazy incidents(hopefully you never do again) remind yourself that rude people with shitty attitude have nothing going for them in their lives and are miserable 😩

People are so weird. I’ve had a hair business tell me they don’t allow masks cause it’s of the devil and silencing voices. They also told me that I was killing my kids by wearing a masks. Safe to say I will not be switching to their salon ever. At this point I don’t care who wears or doesn’t wear it as long as they stay away from me while I shop for groceries

I'll say it again. Same thing happened to me but I wasn't wearing a mask. An old guy screamed in my face in the supermarket. There was no mandates and the supermarket didn't enforce masks. I just rolled my eyes and walked away.

It's your body your choice! Wear a fkn mask if you want to, I don't because that's my choice. I'm not gonna try and degrade those who choose to wear one. It's not my fkn business lol
