Verse from bible. Merciful or scary?

Some people say this verse made them afraid. Well, in Islam, after death and resurrection is a bit different. You die, you get stuck alone in your grave, two scary angels come to ask you who is your god and prophet, if you hesitate, a giant serpent will come to choke you everyday,your deeds in life will come shaped as an ugly looking man to stare at you reminds you of every bad incident of your life. Do you still find this verse from bible merciful or scary?

Try a different translation. For instance, the GNT says this for Ecc 9:5-6 "Yes, the living know they are going to die, but the dead know nothing. They have no further reward; they are completely forgotten. Their loves, their hates, their passions, all died with them. They will never again take part in anything that happens in this world". 
Islam and Christianity are very very different religions. Just remember that things get twisted easily and it is always best to put verses into context before trying to interpret them.

So this verse is explaining that when we die it’s like we are in a deep sleep without dreams because we will be going to heaven when Jesus returns to take his people with him those who are his believers his children those who are dead and those who are live he will take with him to heaven. This verse will help you understand what Ecclesiastics is referring to. I think it’s merciful because if we were awake while being dead and knowing what’s happening to the world our loved ones it would be torture to not be able to help or be there for them.  Also God is allowing this so that as time passes more people can be saved and go to kingdom of heaven. He’s being graceful imagine if he would’ve came back now and some of us are still wondering or trying to believe in him he’s being very merciful. He will not return until everyone  had heard about Jesus Christ but we don’t know  exactly hope this helps God bless 
 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 : Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

It’s not a scripture to be scare of the dead does not have any rememberance of the living. Which means there are no such thing as Ghost there are only Angels that roam on the earth or demons. When Jesus come back the dead shall rise to meet him in the air.

A very strange (imo) interpretation of this verse haha. The Bible can be interpreted many ways, but I’ve never heard it interpreted like this. I think maybe this verse could mean that when you are dead you don’t know what will happen to you? Like the moment you die you will be judged by God and God alone about your life on earth? Humans know for sure that we will die one day, but the moment you die you still don’t know how your judgement day will go as that is in the hands of God when you finally stand before him. That’s just how I understand this verse though! And since this verse is in English there could also be a mistranslation of the words that might make it stray from its original intended meaning.
