Is your baby talking?

Question

So my son turned 10 months on the 5th this month and I’m concerned he isn’t talking yet. He only knows how to say dada.. I feel so guilty because my family says he should be saying more words and he should know how to say bye/ wave his hands/ shake his head no. What can your baby do?

I felt the same with my son. I constantly feel like he’s behind. I have noticed that he isn’t an “early” baby. But he tends to meet milestones at the very end of when he should.
I still don’t know what to do with him all day?🤷🏼‍♀️

My baby says mama, dada, buba, nana. And “ah oh” when he falls over.
He shakes his head no, hi fives, waves, throws his arms up in the air when we say “you beauty”, dances when we say dance dance, plays peekaboo when we say “where’s Blake?”
He pretty much just copy’s everything we do.
It’s all about repetition with babies, the more you do and say things to them the more they do it back. We’ve always spent time just sitting with him and repeating words for him copy or actions etc.
They pick it up fast.
But also don’t stress too much about what you baby can or can’t do yet, each baby does things when they are ready.

Mine is mostly dada and not directed only at my husband, just kind of random muttering. I’ve heard several other consonant sounds but nothing word-like. He understands a couple commands but again not reliably. I had to fill out a thorough developmental screener at his 9 month check up and it had all these unrealistic language milestones so I’m glad a lot of people are seeing similar things.

Don’t worry at all! This is early to be talking. My son didn’t say “mama” until he was around 11 months and it took him much longer to talk normally, but he’s 4 now and literally won’t stop talking 😩 
My 9 month old daughter says “stick” but it sounds like “thick” (her favorite teething toy is a stick/block from my son’s block set so we apparently say the word stick a lot lol) and “dada”, but she refuses to say mama.💔 I’m not worried about her at all. If she wasn’t saying anything I wouldn’t even be worried. After worrying about my son for years about everything trying to compare him to other kids I’ve learned my lesson for sure!

My daughters says Momma and that’s it. My 3 year old barely spoke when she was 2. Maybe a little at 2.5 but not nearly as much as I thought she should. She turned 3 last week and speaks in complete sentences now. They do things at their own pace!

My kiddo will say dada when prompted to say anything(mama dada, grandma grandpa”. when he’s mad he will go “MOM!” And sometimes he will say hi, but it sounds more like “hiya” most kiddos don’t start really connecting words with meaning until a year, so don’t worry just yet!

My little guy says Mama and Dada. He is trying to wave hi (by trying I mean he just holds his arm in the air 🤣).
