what’s a good type of birth control , i do not want to gain any weight & i don’t want my periods any longer than they are . this will be my first time ever on bc .

I started off on the pill. I didn't have a break week so took it continuously. I took it for 7 years and only started seeing side effects in the last 2, maybe? I then had a break, but did not enjoy not having any BC protection. I then got the hormonal IUD. Its caused no weight gain and has shortened my periods. I did get some pain and cramping for the first few weeks, but it was managable. It's now been in nearly 4 years.

I was on the shot for a while, I was spotting for at least a couple of weeks and after that it went away and I never got my period ever since. But now I’m on the implant and I’m planing on going back to the shot because the side effects on nexplanon are too much for me.

There is no true right or wrong option here since everyone's body reacts differently to the different BC options. I have been on the pill for the last 6 years with no side affects. But it's best to talk with your doctor and work with them to see what is best for you.

I started with nexplanon almost a year and had spotting that whole time. I hated it on top of it had mood swings. Switched to pills and I have a light periods 6 days max. The nexplanon gave me no normal
Periods since I couldn’t really distinguish it. The weight control wasn’t something that I noticed.
