Has anyone done this?
I didn't really know where to post this but just curious if anyone has done this because I'm seriously considering it. We currently own a home and while I love our house it's such a huge expense. Our mortgage costs almost my entire paycheck. My husband and I make good money, but now that we have a child and he goes to an expensive daycare, plus two car payments, student loans, credit cards (we racked up CC debt while my husband was laid off), etc. It's all piled up. I want another child in the near future and it just seems next to impossible with all the expenses. I've toyed with the idea of selling our house, taking the equity and buying a mobile home, living there for a couple of years to pay off our debt and save up money and eventually build our own home on our own land with the money we'd save. Lot rent here is usually about $300-$500 per month. If we paid for the trailer in cash we'd literally just have the lot rent and utilities. But it's hard to take all that equity we've built just to put it into a trailer that loses its value.
I'm just sick of working just to pay bills. I want another child and I want to save money and quit being house broke. Has anyone else done this and been happy with their decision? I've seen tiktoks of people selling their homes and doing this or moving into RVs and eventually building a home and it seems like a good idea.
