Big promotion or stay safe and easy?

Question

I have the opportunity for a big promotion at work but it might require a few more hours and the occasional weekend hours. My current position is easy, comfortable, a little boring but I always get out by 430. The promotion is an amazing opportunity and work that I’d enjoy more than what I’m doing now. I have two little guys, 3y&9mo, who already go to daycare during the day. Do I go for the promotion even though it might mean a little less time with them? I think I’m just being a scaredy-cat….  Any thoughts on what y’all would do?

Very personal decision but I personally would go for it and do my very best not to feel guilty because mom guilt is real.   I do see you described the current route as kinda boring.  I will say that when I’ve had jobs I’m bored at, it seeps into every aspect of my life.   I can even get depressed when my mind and soul  isn’t engaged.   Bored, unhappy mama’s don’t help anyone.  Best of luck either way!  Your heart and gut already know what to do 💛

If you enjoy the work and feel like the promotion comes with enough pay for those extra hours, then you could do it ! 
 But if you don’t feel inspired for that work? Then don’t

It’s such a personal decision. I decided after my first daughter was born my career wasn’t a top priority to me. Don’t get me wrong, I still care about my career, and I do my job and do it well, but I don’t want any additional responsibility or to “climb the ladder”. I wouldn’t take on anything that would require more hours. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, like I said it’s a personal choice.
