Couples therapy success stories?
Me and my partner have been together for almost 2.5 years now. We have a 1 year old and are 8 weeks pregnant. We have had issues in the past with him lying about silly things and me calling him out. He always apologies and swears there's nothing else etc. I recently discovered he has been cheating on me the whole relationship. Every few weeks he speaks to the same woman he met on a dating site 3 years ago and they exchange pictures and explicit messages. He's had her saved in his phone under the name of a man he works with and deletes messages regularly.
I am really struggling. Obviously I feel like the entire relationship has been a lie. Our children were very much planned and I thought we were happy. He says he's blocked her now and he will never speak to her again etc and he can't lose us and he's realised what he has now. He seems genuinely sorry. He even told his brother what he did of his own accord as he felt guilty about it and needed to talk. I know he doesn't want to miss out on seeing the kids so often. We are currently still living together but separated at least until our tenancy ends for the sake of my daughter.
I'm wondering if there's any point in pursuing couples therapy? Has anyone had any success in forgiving a cheater and having a good outcome ie they didn't cheat again and you regained trust. I do not want to waste any more of my time but also couldn't forgive myself if I didn't do everything I could to keep ny daughters family together
