SHG pain?

What was your SHG experience? I was one of the unlucky ones that almost died during my HSG so I’m worried.

Mine was definitely awful as far as the procedure because I didn’t find out until I got there that my doctor preferred a different than standard type of catheter and I also wasn’t aware I should have premedicated with Motrin or Tylenol but I’m not sure it would have made much of a difference.

Im not quite sure if a shg is the same as a saline sonogram? Anyways, here is my ssg experience. Ive had 2 ssg tests and the first one i was sooo nervous i backed up off the table as my dr inserted the catheter, making it kind of painful. My second one was wayyyy better, it wasnt painful, just uncomfortable. I tried my best to stay put and keep my butt in place. I lightly fluttered my knees to keep calm. The test was over in about 3 minutes. I also took some advil 30 mins prior to the procedure.

It was something I was not prepared for, for sure! Super painful... was honestly almost jumping off the table. I signed off on the consent because it said on it the doctor would explain it... never happened, I got a brief explanation from a nurse. I think it was made worse by me not having a comfortable or confident relationship with the doctor. He has never given my case the time of day or walked in and acted like he even read my chart. His first sentence when he walked in the room was " I just watched a YouTube video on how to do this procedure!" 😐... maybe that would have been funny if I actually felt confident in this office!.. why haven't I left? I have sort of. IVF will definitely be done through a different office , but they are close for my baselines.
