Are Private investigators cops?

I’m am a private investigator in Australia did it as my father in law and I were going to start a business. Not a cop or anything but was studying law before I went into medicine so never ended up using it but totally would.

They can be, they can be retired like the other person said, or they just do it as something freelance, they realized it was something they were good at and they went with it. They saw a need and I fulfilled it. Sometimes they have connections with police, not necessarily themselves, sometimes it’s a part-time job at some cops do to help out friends, etc.

They're usually retired or ex cops. Not current employed cops.
