HSV1? Freaking out

My boyfriend just called me and told me he got a call from his dr today and he has HSV-1. 
I’m like.. kinda stuck, don’t know what to think, do I need to get tested? Did he cheat? He said he hasn’t had any outbreaks or symptoms ever but I’m wondering like what made them even check for it? 🥴 
Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Hsv 1 is cold sores. Most of the population has been exposed. Many don't even know they have it as symptoms can lay dormant for years. I wouldn't assume he's cheated at all

Over 90% of people have HSV1 most commonly given to us as children because parents love to kiss their babies or you know family :) most times it’s dormant unless under huge stress that makes you get a cold sore not necessarily a uncommon thing nor is it going to hurt you there is meds if any outbreak occurs, but again you can have it even before him so if you get a positive don’t blame him because who knows 🤷🏽‍♀️  sometimes you won’t have jt at all entirely!

Typically HSV1 is referred to as oral herpes, and HSV2 as genital herpes, but HSV1 can occur in both places. 
Where does he have it? If he has it on his mouth, he could have gotten it from drinking from someone else's beverage. If he has it downstairs, I would be concerned about how he got it...

I recently was diagnosed with hsv2. I've been with my husband for over 3 years. We both have been faithful. It has just been dormant in my body for a long time. It actually happens a lot. 
Most people have some form of it 1 or 2. Doesn't mean he was unfaithful at all!

HSV1 is the cold sore strain and extremely common. Cold sores are not an STD/I. It has nothing to do with cheating. He isn’t having outbreaks so there is no need to do anything differently.

Everyone has HSV-1. I mean I’m not sure there’s hardly anyone over the age of 18 that would test negative for it. What matter is if it’s a high IgM or a high IgG. Everyone is going to have a high IgG￼. That means past infection (the one most will have). And igm means current or recent infection.
