Would you support him?

My husband has been a 911 dispatcher for 4 years, we have 2 kids.He is the last one from his original class and trains newcomers, and he has been feeling stuck and frustrated with his career as they can't promote him because he's their best trainer.

He works insane hours - 65-75 a week, 12 hour shifts. Usually gets one day off a week. Sometimes he works 12 12 hour shifts in a row.

He has been considering joining the deputy program. Meaning while he's in academy he would take a major pay cut (we would save to be able to pay bills during this time) and then after academy he would make a bit more money than he makes now, and work less. He would work 4-5 days a week and have 4-6 days off every 2 week pay period instead of 2 days off.

He would be seeing some messed up stuff though and be in dangerous situations.

It seems to be the change that will get him feeling motivated and happier to get out of bed in the morning instead of staring at 10 screens for 12 hours a day and answering a phone.

But I do worry about the danger and the stigma about divorce rates with cops and such, and his mental health.

He seems very excited about the career change and I don't want to drag him down... but it worries me. Would you be supportive in my situation?
