When will my boobs start to grow to get milk ready??

Question

I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant with twins and with my previous pregnancy my boobs were huge early on and I nursed for 9 and a half months and my boobs grew a little in the beginning with this pregnancy but haven't grown anymore since and I plan on nursing my twins. Should I be worried?

Answer

I'm 26w, second pregnancy, and they've gotten more firm again, but no other major changes. I nursed my son for 2 years, and my boobs had the biggest change with that pregnancy. I had started leaking around 14w with my son, and I went from an A cup to a B, then after he was born and colostrum turned to milk, went to a C, and stayed that size until he wasn't nursing regularly, then back down to a B.

So I wouldn't worry much, our breasts are already matured, the ducts know what to do this time around, so they're just waiting for the birth hormone trigger to make colostrum, then milk. :-)  And if it's anything like the first time around, I'll be a dairy cow again. Good thing with twins on the way! Lol
