What does it mean when they come and go in your life?

I’m asking because some people say that it’s a good sign, some others say that it’s a red flag. More precisely, when someone comes and goes, it’s either a sign that they are “the one” and God brings them in your life all the time because that’s where “they’re meant to be”, or a bad sign showing that someone out of the two or both don’t know what they want.

The thing is, with my situation, it’s like the 3rd time we’re distant. Nothing specific happened that pulled us apart, not even a fight or something. I just had exams and I distant myself in order to concentrate, and then he never asked me out after that and stopped texting me.

What really hurts is that I can’t text first because I’ll make him harm. My parents don’t like him AT ALL and they asked me to stop communicating with him and forget about him. Especially my father. The reason is that they think he influences me a lot in things like religion (he is christian orthodox like me and my family so I don’t see a problem there).

So what do you think I should do if he comes back to me and asks me out again someday...?
