Is bottle sterilizing really necessary?

I keep reading conflicting things on this topic. I dont get how just washing with soap and water not sufficient? If you didnt sterilize bottles where your babies okay? please share your experience either way

Pregnant with my 4th, never purchased a bottle sterilizer.

I was told you only need to sterilize if baby is a premie. From all tner sterilizers I looked at all reviews said they didn't dry the bottles fully. Once the bottles are taken out they are no longer sterile. Hot, soapy water or running through the dishwasher is fine

I got a microwave sterilizer just because it’s so easy. I got it like new for $4 at the used baby store and you just throw in the bottles, nipples, and pacifiers 2 minutes for an easy water only sterilization. For me it’s peace of mind and frankly easiness! Plastic does get gross and bacteria grow in our Tupperware and other plastic ware, so it makes sense.

I washed my babies bottles before using them but just liked you'd wash dishes normally in soap and water

I used the microwave sterilizer on my 1st. My 2nd is 5 months old and we’ve never used one. Soap and hot water do just fine.
