Have any of you ever filed an assault charge?

My sons dad went off the deep in today right after my son got into his car. I blocked his wife on Facebook because they started saying some really mean stuff to me and we were just trying to cut all ties that aren’t just talking about my son. After he found out I blocked her he Yelled F you and flipped us off. I rolled my window up and my fiancé laughed that he flipped us off and his dad got out of his car and started banging on my window yelling at my fiancé and then went to his side and tried to open the door and reached through his cracked window to knock his phone of his hands and continued yelling and cussing up calling him all kinds of names. I started to pull out and he just started calling him the B word and told him he better run. I have no idea why it went this bad. His dad is for sure a narcissist and finds problems every where but this is the most physical he has been. We do have it all on video. I had my 2 year old in my car while it was happening and my 9 year old was in his dads car watching and listening to it all. He left the door open so he could hear everything. I have to go back and pick him up tomorrow. I was on the phone with 911 because he kept trying to get in my car but I hung up when his wife moved him the first time. I really don’t know what to do
