Is it possible to change your tampon too often?

I'm pretty new to using tampons (previously used just pads) and sometimes when I take the tampon out it feels dry and kind of hurts... Is this normal? This may be tmi but only half of it has blood on it. I'm using regulars. Help?!

Not really but if you are very light the friction caused by inserting and taking out nearly dry tampons every hour may irritate your vagina and feel uncomfortable.

Okay another question: Should you pee with a tampon in? I usually take it out before, but I drink a lot of water throughout the day and pee every two or three hours. Is it okay to not replace a tamp everytime you pee or is that bad?

If you're changing them too often just leave it in longer. Keep in mind 6-8 hours tops, if it's still only half full then use a tampon with a lighter absorbency

Even with a small tampon, if you try to take it out too soon it gets all dry and is hard to pull out. It hurts.

Try a small size. Maybe try a different brand. I find that some are more comfortable than others. 
Changing your tampon often especially when you have a light flow can cause irritation
