Overreacting ?

Yesterday my husband, myself and our 3 kids went out for lunch with my mother in law, sister-in-law, her husband and their baby. At lunch we were talking about another couple we know purchasing a vacation home and how they were able to because combined they make around $300,000 a year. When my husband and I decided to grow our family, we decided that we were comfortable enough with his salary alone and we aren’t to big on daycare so I would stay home and raise the kids. Joking about the vacation home, I said we will never have one of those! I was totally joking, we have a beautiful home, our kids are well taken care of and we live a very comfortable lifestyle which I’m very grateful for. My mother in law replies with “well (insert my husbands name) , you should have married someone who makes $150,000 a year. And my husband said NOTHING. Am I wrong to be upset? Am I overreacting? I haven’t said much to my husband since this happened except how I was hurt by it and he told me she didn’t mean it. And I haven’t talked to her since. Am I being too sensitive?
