Does baby’s back need to be on your left side to come out correctly?

Question

I recently took a “spinning babies” class and the instructor said the baby needs to be on mom’s left side or they’ll come out “sunny side up” bc all babies rotate clockwise when they’re being born to fit through the pelvis. True or False?

My midwife told me the same thing, that left side is optimal because of the clockwise rotation. 
I will say that my first baby always hung out on my right side and when I was in labor I had HORRIBLE back labor. Back labor is associated with sunny side up babies, and it makes sense now that if we started out labor with him on the right, and he turned with his back facing my back for a period of time, it caused me to have back labor. 
He did makes complete rotation though and was not born sunny side up but it was a longer labor than I hoped for and definitely did not expect the back labor!

I’ve heard that is the idea position as well but I’m not clear on if they will still rotate towards the back if they start out with the back towards the right. I’m sure hoping that’s the case because I’m quite sure mine has had her back on my right side for many weeks now.
