Am I leaking amniotic fluid? 39+4

Tiyah

I've been having Braxton Hicks off and on all day today, baby has also been super active and feels like he's changed positions from my right side to my left.

For the past hour I've been sitting in my rocking chair just scrolling on my phone, and I keep having fluid dribble. It's clear odorless liquid, not enough to fill a pad, doesn't increase in volume when I stand up or anything. I can't tell if it's just an increase in usual discharge or if I'm leaking amniotic fluid.

Has anyone else experienced this?

If you’re sitting or standing, it’s more likely to be urine that amniotic fluid. If you’re laying down, more likely to be amniotic fluid. To check, lay down for 15 mins and you should leak if it’s your waters, if not it’s most likely urine.

Yeah just lay down instead of sitting. When you’re sitting your bladder is getting all the pressure of your bump pressing it into your pubic bone, also gravity is holding the babies head down. When you lie down the baby can slip back and that allows the amniotic fluid to leak. If you lay down and dont leak, it’s most likely just urine but always safe to get checked! Good luck.

Im going to give it a couple hours as well and if I'm still having extra fluid I'm going to have it checked just incase.

Have you lost your mucus plug yet? The night I did I kept feeling a dribble and thought it was my water. Went to the dr and they checked, not amniotic fluid, they said was just extra discharge. Maybe that? Doesn’t hurt to get checked tho

My midwife tried to do a membrane sweep last week. I was 1cm dilated, but my cervix was too high for her to reach to complete a sweep. I still lost my mucous plug and it was tinged with blood for about 24 hours.

Could be baby dropped down and caused a small leak in the forebag
