Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable with affection?

I get really uncomfortable when people tell me they love me, or when they try and hug me… I don’t even like kisses or being touched in general 😵‍💫 I feel awkward and tense up.

Yes but I grew up in a family where hugs and I love yous weren't a thing really. Only ever heard I love you if a family member passed away. Even my parents weren't affectionate in front of us. In their 22 yrs of marriage I only saw them hold hands once. They were never the type to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie or anything. So it was just normal to me that that wasn't a thing in our house. Compare that to my husband's family that's all about hugs and kisses and I love you just constantly. I've gotten a tad bit better over the last 7 yrs. I can hug and not be so awkward but it's still like one arm side hugs 🤣 I said a tad bit better, not completely. It's still just weird to me.

Yes, although I know it’s because it’s not something I’m used to. My parents never showed us affection or told us “I love you”. I only get that way with family/ friends. Not relationships though. I feel like I’ve grown from it though, and if my friends were to want a hug or tell me “i love you” I’d say it back because it feels nice being shown affection and hearing those words.
