Could it be the beginning of labor??

Question

I experienced for about an hour tightening I. Stomach along with period like cramps in lower abdomen and back 
I am two days from being 38 weeks 
Pain has subsided atm 
Any of you experienced this prior to labor? 
What were your symptoms prior to labor?? Thanks

If it went away, I don’t think so. Labor would pick up and intensify, not drop off

I think I read somewhere that period type cramps are sometimes your cervix dilating a bit, so it could've been that. You can be dilated for ages before going into labour though. I was 39w yesterday and had on and off cramps, lots of Braxton Hicks, and what felt like a few mild contractions at bed time but didn't go anywhere 🙄

I agree with the previous poster i have been in false labor/prodromal labor for almost a week now started at 39 weeks I am 39+5  today 🥴 but I will experience contractions sometimes seeming completely legit definitely timeable for around an hour at a time (this is baby number 5 been through 3 labors). I even had a sweep on Tuesday still no luck still pregnant over here. I am going to try the cat cow again see if i cant stir anything up today haha! Good luck momma either way were getting close now but prodromal is so frusterating

If it went away it was likely prodromal labor. It stinks, but it has a purpose! Usually getting baby in the right position. Try doing cat and cow yoga poses, forward leaning inversions. For me, I had weeks of prodromal labor (basically false labor, not Braxton hicks, but not the real deal either) and finally at 40+5 weeks it was going pretty steady, and after doing a bunch of cat and cow poses (my mom who had 8 babies suggested it) it finally picked up! That was my second baby, first spontaneous labor.
Definitely use a contraction counter if you're ever curious! However, watch intensity and not as much on timing. My contractions from beginning to end were only about 2, maybe 3, minutes apart. It was still a 14 hour total labor lol
