Someone please help
I’ve recently started to wean my 19 month old of the boob. We now only nurse once during the day for nap time and we nurse at night time (he still wakes often).
The process has been more straightforward and easier then expected however nighttime nursing has resulted in him biting me (more like scrapping his teeth of my nipple- which is super painful).
I tell him no biting, ouch that hurts etc and refuse him nipple for a couple minutes or so. He does not seemed bothered by my discomfort at all. I’ve tried refusing completely after he does it but results in screaming fits at 2/3am which I don’t need, so let him nurse again. He doesn’t feed for long and then will come off me by pulling and scrapping his teeth on my nipples, every single time at the moment! He isn’t teething as he has all of his teeth now.
Is this a sign he is ready to wean completely but hasn’t learnt to settle without a nipple in the mouth or does this mean my milk is drying up and he isn’t getting enough? I have offered cows milk and water in the night thinking maybe he needed milk and wasn’t getting enough from me but he took a sip and threw it in the floor! I will add that we also co sleep.
I’m at a loss. If need be I will stop altogether but then my new problem will be how do I get him to sleep without boob??
