Anyone drove themselves to the hospital when going into labor?

I work from home and unfortunately my bil and parent inlaws live with us. My bil and fil both drive but I don't have a relationship with them and care enough to bond with them. Therefore don't feel comfortable having them take me and I know they wouldn't even want to take me. They don't care about me just that im pregnant and soon will be bringing a cute baby into the home.  Hubby is physically at work. I was just thinking what if my water broke at home, would I have one of these people take me? To be honest I would rather take myself.

I would just call your husband and have him come home to take you… Or take an Uber. It’s not safe to drive while you’re having contractions

Trust me, you do not want to be driving anywhere whilst you're in labour..... 😳 please don't. You'll be putting yourself, your baby, and other road users at risk when you could call literally anyone else (or an uber) to take you

How far away does your husband work? You may not have a sudden gush of water and need to rush to the hospital like in the movies. Sometimes waters don't even break. Your husband should have time to come home. Is he not going to be your birth partner anyway? You may not be able to drive if you're having strong contractions which I would suggest isn't safe.

I’ve seen people drive there but the hospital will not let you drive yourself home. So you might as well Uber or phone a friend. Your husband may need to actually go ahead and take off or be on call so he can leave a day in advance wherever he is to be there.
If there is this much disdain for your in laws what is gonna happen once baby is born? Are you just gonna be tired and doing everything alone while your husband is working? Absolutely no help at all? If so that will be tough if this is your first baby.

Keep in mind that most women’s waters break during labour rather than before. So you’ll likely have lots of notice.

I drove myself with our first. My water broke that morning and my contractions were tolerable. My husband works 10 minutes from the hospital and there was no reason for him to come all the way home to get me and then go back the same direction he came from to go to the hospital. He certainly would have but I thought it was dumb. I had to get gas in my car so he met me there; which was across from the hospital. We then parked and went into the hospital together, my brother in law picked up my car the next day and drove it home for me. Everyone is different but my experience was smooth and I felt comfortable doing it.

I drove myself to my husbands job to pick him up (he’s a tow truck driver and had to return the tow truck to the shop) for him to then drive us to the hospital as I had the car with the seats installed it also depends if you have had fast labors in the past

My mom drove herself, but I have no idea how she did that! Haha. If you think you’re in labor, call your husband to come get you. I’m sure you’ll have plenty of time to wait for him to get there.

I was driven. With my first I would have been fine with my second contractions really started in the car and no way I could have driven through them. Not only would it have been unsafe and near impossible because my body did not want to sit down I was spread in the backseat, but it would have taken longer and I likely would have delivered in the car.
