How to feel more comfortable in crop tops?

I’m overweight (around 200 but haven’t measured in months) and have a protruding stomach. I like my stomach and how chubby it is tbh LOL and my bf seems to like it too. I just want to feel more comfortable and confident wearing them in public. I wore once on my college campus and I got stares. It felt AWKWARD. I had classmates and a teacher staring at my stomach during a group project.

Crop tops always have the cutest designs that I fancy but in media, it’s always shown on flat stomachs.
