Baby girl is finally hereš„°
Soļæ¼ starting off I had a pretty rough pregnancy: morning sickness in all the way through, severe acid reflex and heartburn from 24 weeks on, and some other things. I was losing a lot of weight and didnāt gain anything until I was five months. I am high risk because of a clotting disorder. So I started having monthly ultrasounds after 20 weeks. At the 28 week ultrasound, they found that the baby was smaller than normal. ļæ¼From then on I started having weekly ultrasounds. Then from 32 weeks on I started having a weekly NSTs as well. They had to constantly scan the placenta to make sure she was actually getting the nutrients she needed. She was in the 3rd percentile but got up to the 10th the week before she was born. They wanted me induced because I am on blood thinners. Along with the fact of how small she was.
The Friday before the induction I had my cervix check out my OB appointment and I was maybe 1 cm dilated and 30 to 40% effaced. The doctor told me that my cervix did not seem like it was ready yet and that labor might last a long time. The following Monday my partner and I had sex to maybe try to help my cervix. (We havenāt in like 2 months because of pain and discomfort from baby being so low. We went and dropped off our toddler to my momās house and headed to the hospital and got there around 9 PM. They checked my cervix again and I was at 3 cm but still 30 to40% effaced. The doctor decided to not have me take the Cytotec because of how dilated I already was and it seemed unnecessary. Unfortunately that meant we had to stay the night and wait until 6 AM to start the Pitocin.
We finally got the Pitocin started and I was able to go back to sleep for a bit. It took about four or five hours for me to get to 5 cm. I didnāt feel the contractions much and mostly slept through them and they were quite easy. I got the epidural next. It was quite uncomfortable. The numbing medicine did not take on my right side and she stuck me a couple times before having to renumb me because I started cursing and crying because of the pain. Finally after what seemed like half an hour she was able to successfully gave me the epidural. Next step was getting my water broken. After that happened my contractions got more serious and I started getting uncomfortable. I had a hotspot right across my left pelvis so I was still feeling all of the contractions in that spot. I felt super weak and dizzy after a while. I honestly was thinking I wasnāt going to have enough energy to push. I was feeling completely exhausted. After about four hours I was at 9 cm and was almost ready to push. ļæ¼ Finally at 3pm I called the nurse because I felt like I was ready to push and she got all the doctors. Because of my daughterās growth restriction in the Nicu team had to be there as well. At 3:10 I started pushing and by 314 and three contractions later Ivy Sage was born.
I started crying as soon as she was born. I donāt think I for like 20 minutes. The first thing I said was āIm so glad she has hair.ā Even though itās all in the back𤣠She passed all her tests and got a nine on her Apgar score. She was born 6lbs 3.6oz and 19in long. We are finally home and so much in love with our new bundle.
